Perched at the very top of the Cornas amphitheater, Domaine de la Grande Colline is one of the appellation’s most singular sites—steep, south southeast-facing slopes of pure granite overlooking the Rhône river. A place of extremes, now shaping some of the most compelling, under the radar Syrahs in the region.

At the helm, Jonathan Jacquart brings both precision and instinct. His path reads like a masterclass, with stints at reputable domaine across France such as Emmanuel Reynaud at Château Rayas, Thierry Allemand, Overnoy and Domaine Dujac.

When Hirotake Ooka (the previous owner of Grande Colline) returned to Japan, Thierry Allemand partnered with Jonathan to take it forward. Since 2018, he has redefined the domaine, elevating both precision and consistency while pushing a deeply natural, biodiversity-driven approach (biodynamic). No herbicides, no synthetics. Instead: living soils, cows, beehives and polyculture. High altitude Cornas means longer, cooler ripening—key to preserving freshness in a warming climate. In the cellar: whole cluster, gentle extraction, minimal sulfur and aging in neutral barrels to let the site speak—unmasked.

The result? A new generation of Cornas: deep, peppery Syrah with lift, precision and striking energy.

Grande Colline is no longer a hidden gem—it’s a rising benchmark. A cult estate in the making.
