Louis Mathieu

At just 24, Louis launches his first four Burgundian cuvées. A self-made talent with an unconventional path, he trained at Domaine Jacques Prieur and with Klaus-Peter Keller—where everything accelerated. His 2017 Bourgogne red “Les Nargilets” stunned in a blind tasting, earning KPK respect and support.
From a tiny family parcel in Côte Chalonnaise to his own Remigny-based négociant project (since 2024), Louis is now fully in motion.
Style? Burgundy with a Kabinett mindset: no weight, all precision. Light extraction, gentle infusions, vibrant acidity—wines built on finesse, freshness, and age-worthy elegance.
Craft: old vines (30+ yrs), organic farming where possible, low yields. Whole clusters, native ferments, no pigeage, short macerations (10–15 days), careful extraction, then 16 months in seasoned barrels (no new oak, aged in used barrels from W.Kelley and KP Keller). Minimal sulphur, unfined, unfiltered.
A singular Aligoté completes the range—short whole-cluster maceration, co-fermented with Pommard skins. Pure, raw, distinctive.
The result: light-footed, aromatic, terroir-driven reds with real definition—precise, vibrant and seriously compelling. Silky texture, dangerously drinkable, with an utterly captivating perfume.
First vintage now released – only 4 cuvees for a (deliberately) micro-production of 2,400 bottles: Fixin “Echalais”, Pommard “En Boeuf”, Beaune 1er Cru “Les Epenotes” and a VDF “Pink Aligoté”.
